Independent Higher Education is looking for a Policy and Communications Officer to support our members and contribute to the formulation and delivery of IHE policy.

Independent Higher Education is the UK membership organisation and national representative body for independent providers of higher education, professional training and pathways. Our members include some of the best education providers from the creative industries and professional world as well as highly specialist institutions. On average, our institutions recruit higher percentages of students from widening participation backgrounds than publicly funded institutions. We work to support them through lobbying for reform at government level, and raising standards across the sector through sharing good practice, running relevant events, and through our in house expertise.

The successful candidate will support IHE members on matters of policy and regulation, through one to one assistance, events, newsletters and other communications, and research. They will also work with the Director of Policy and Development on IHE policy; attending meetings with civil servants and sector stakeholders and writing briefings and consultation responses on a range of topics relevant to the changing landscape of HE.

To succeed in this role, you will have experience in the HE sector of writing clear briefings and summaries of complex documents. You will be an excellent communicator who can build constructive working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including civil servants, IHE members, and other stakeholders. You’ll be well organised and able to direct your own work and manage projects with minimal supervision.
