IHE response to OfS consultation on quality and standards – January 2021

Our submission followed a period of consultation with members and sector bodies. We listened to a range of views on the proposals, including issues relating to the level of baselines, the balance between the use of indicators and contextual information, the impact on SMEs and micro providers, as well as concerns relating to the approach to Transnational Education and partnership working. We disagreed strongly with many of the proposals, and set out our concerns about the disincentives the proposals could create for widening participation, the provision of arts and creative disciplines, and higher technical learning and professional education.

There will be a second stage of the consultation and we will continue to engage with members to ensure your views are heard and incorporated into any future submissions. We have in parallel to the submission continued to  communicate our concerns to departmental officials, the OfS and sector representatives.
