Student retention remains a key performance indicator in higher education quality assurance processes and features heavily in upcoming changes to higher education regulation. It becomes vital that higher education providers ensure they have robust policies to support student success. Student retention is a difficult area to manage, as many students drop-out of a course with little or no prior engagement with support services. Retention policies must therefore involve an understanding of low-retention groups as well as an institutions own data on their learners.
