IHE comments on the end of term guidance issued by the Department for Education

“This guidance provides much-needed clarity on the government’s plans for helping students in England spend Christmas with their families, and we especially welcome the news that widespread testing will be available to support this.

“Many independent higher education providers planned for the autumn term to prioritise high levels of the face-to-face practical learning and assessments so important to their students, especially after so much learning was missed in the first lockdown. They will now act quickly to involve students in the difficult decisions which will be necessary to reshape their provision to meet the government’s timetable.

“Our members will need as much notice as the government can provide of their plans for the new year, as it will be a significant challenge to fit in what has been missed in an already busy term.”
