We are very pleased to announce that Conrad Bird CBE, Director of the GREAT Britain campaign, Prime Minister’s Office, will speak at the inaugural Independent Higher Education conference on 29 November 2016.
Conrad is Director of the the GREAT Britain campaign, which recently launched it’s new student-facing Study UK-Discover You campaign aimed at recruiting international students. The new government-backed £6 million campaign invites international students to “Study UK – Discover You”, as well as promoting UK transnational education. It comes as part of a wider government initiative ‘Education is Great’, which aims to promote the value the British education system has both domestically, and across the world.
In his role as Director, Conrad has responsibility for delivering major cross-government campaigns, as well as ensuring Government spending on communications is efficient and cost-effective. As the previous Head of Public Diplomacy and Strategic Campaigns at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, he was responsible for a wide range of policies and campaigns, including soft power, the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics, and campaigns in the Middle East, Libya, Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Conrad will outline his plans for the new campaign in our plenary session ‘UK Higher Education: An International Future?’. Alongside experts from Government and the education sector, panelists will explore the challenges and opportunities for UK Higher Education as the whole country reassesses its role in the world following Brexit.
