The Disabled Students’ Commission (DSC), established in 2019 by the Universities Minister, has been set up to build on the work of the former Disabled Students Sector Leadership Group (DSSLG) that was established in 2016. During the course of its work, the DSC will provide a series of recommendations to higher education providers (HEPs) and sector agencies around how to support disabled students to achieve a more positive experience in terms of access, participation, success and progression.
The first report of the Commission, Three Months to Make a Difference, was published on 15 July 2020. It outlines seven key areas which present challenges for disabled students and which urgently need to be addressed by HEPs and policy makers, to ensure that the necessary support is in place for disabled students in readiness for the new academic year.
In this webinar, Geoff Layer, Chair of the Disabled Students’ Commission, will discuss the DSC’s first report and respond to questions on addressing the challenges outlined within it.
