The Academy of Contemporary Music (ACM)
ACM is a specialist provider of creative industries education. Performers, producers, songwriters, artists, technical services personnel, business executives, entrepreneurs and games developers are taught across their 3 campuses in Guildford, London and Birmingham.
ACMs learning by doing ethos helps simplify how the industry works and produces a clear view of career paths and options. This clear and practical approach accelerates learning. The detailed exposure to all aspects of the industry as it happens (live!) reveals options and destinations, which greatly assists its students in making clear choices and building the maps they need to guide them there.
With their state-of-the-art facilities, world-class faculty and extensive connections within the creative industries, ACM offers a range of Degree and Diploma courses that develop you to your highest potential and, most importantly, immerse you in the music and creative industries.
ACM is not a conservatoire and they are not looking for perfection. Instead, ACM is looking for diamonds in the rough; those with passion, potential, character and commitment for and to a career in the creative industries. If that sounds like you, and you’d like to study Music Performance, Songwriting and Artistry, Audio Production, Technical Services, Music Business, Game Development or more, ACM can’t wait to welcome you to one of our campuses, soon.
95% of ACM graduates are in employment within 6 months of completing their course.
All ACM students can enjoy a unique facility partnership with Metropolis Studios – Europe’s leading independent recording studio, and host to a plethora of industry names. Celebrating over 25 years as the powerhouse of the music industry, Metropolis Studios is situated in Chiswick, West London. Students have exclusive access to its iconic facilities during studio downtime, where on average 50% of the UK Top 40 Chart material is creatively treated.
New for 2018 is the BA (Hons) Game Development course at ACM London, with specific pathways in Programming, Design, Art, and Audio.
Notable graduates include Ed Sheeran, Newton Faulkner, Ebony Day and Zomboy.
“ACM started me off on my journey in the Music Industry and educated me in all the key areas I needed to know from artist management to publishing, to rights management and music law. It was a really inspiring place for an 18 year old music enthusiast to be; surrounded by not only Music Business students on my course but aspiring musicians who we could collaborate and work with. It certainly prepared me with all the knowledge I needed to take my first steps into artist management and beyond. Having passionate and experienced lecturers who all have their own journeys and experiences to draw upon is incredibly inspiring.”
