Alexander Proudfoot
Chief Executive

Alex oversees the association’s strategic development, manages its day-to-day activities and represents members at external meetings and committees. He is also a Trustee of UKCISA, the UK Council for International Student Affairs. Alex worked previously in IT before five years as Communications Manager for the British Accreditation Council for Independent Further and Higher Education. He holds a Bachelor’s in Music and a Master’s in Philosophy.

Joy Elliott-Bowman
Director of Policy & Development

Joy leads our policy development and public affairs activity as well as facilitating good practice across the independent sector. She has over 10 years of experience in the British and Canadian education sectors, working from within universities, students’ unions, QAA and national student organisations on academic quality, the student voice and international education policy.

Marie Clark
Director of External Relations

Marie has spent more than ten years working in UK higher education. Her experience spans policy, communications, marketing and events. She is best known in the sector for leading the establishment and growth of the Hobsons (now QS) International Student Survey, the world’s leading survey of prospective international student decision making.

Rhys Newcombe-Jones
Membership & Communications Officer

Rhys leads on our communications and membership activities and manages IHE’s online presence. Before joining the education sector, Rhys worked in the production teams for the Encounters and Bath film festivals and at the Bristol Old Vic. He has a BSc in Geography and an MA in Film and Television from the University of Bristol.

Megan Wells
Policy & Communications Officer

Megan supports policy and public affairs activity, as well as leading on member facing and policy related communications. She has over five years of experience in higher education policy based in students’ unions and higher education providers. She has BA in Politics and a MA in Political Strategy and Communication from the University of Kent.

Natalie Kubicki
Operations Manager – currently on maternity leave

Natalie manages our internal operations and the smooth running of IHE, as well as supporting our events and commercial relations work. She has Masters’ in Psychology and Occupational Psychology from the Universities of Edinburgh and Nottingham and has previously specialised in human resources in the charity and education sectors.
