The Department for Education has launched the competition for establishing Institutes of Technology (IoTs), which will involve a new type of collaboration between business, further education providers and higher education providers. These new institutions will deliver provision to learners that is highly sought after by employers, in technical disciplines, particularly science, technology, engineering and maths.
Process and timescales
The competition will consist of a two-stage selection process. The call for Stage One proposals opened on Friday 15 December 2017, and proposals must be received by 12noon on Thursday 1 March 2018.
How to apply
Applicants will need to register on the Department for Education eTendering portal at this link. You then need to follow these steps:
- Click on ‘ITTs open to all suppliers’
- Click on ‘Institutes of Technology’
- Click on ‘Express an Interest’
- Navigate to the ‘My ITTs page’ where the application form, supporting annexes and templates and information on how to submit your proposal will be available.
If you have questions about the competition, please submit them on the eTendering portal. Please do not send questions to the IoT email address (any applicant that does so will be asked to resend via the eTendering portal).
